This Privacy Policy explains what rottetwellness.com collects, why, and what happens to it. It is written for the website. Health information created when you become a patient — your history, examination findings, lab work, and treatment notes — is handled separately under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and is described in our Notice of Privacy Practices, which we provide at the start of care.
Rottet Wellness is the chiropractic and clinical nutrition practice of Thomas Rottet, D.C., CFMP, at 1120 Centre Turnpike, Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania 17961 ("Rottet Wellness," "we," "us," or "our").
Before You Fill In a Form
Our contact form asks you to tick the health concerns that apply to you and gives you a free-text box. Please share only what you are comfortable sending over the internet. A web form is not a secure medical channel, and what you send there travels through the third-party services described in Section 4 before it reaches us. If something is sensitive, say so on the phone instead: (570) 366-2613.
01The Short Version
- We collect what you type into our contact form, what you provide when you book, and basic technical information your browser sends to our server.
- We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else's advertising.
- We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. It sets cookies. We carry no advertising pixels and no social-media trackers, and nothing here follows you around other websites.
- The contact form is delivered by an email platform, and booking runs on a separate scheduling platform. Both are named below.
- You can ask us what we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, and unsubscribe at any time.
02Information You Give Us
Through the contact form. The form asks for your first and last name, your email address (required), and your phone number. It then asks you to tick any of the following that apply — Hypertension, Type 2 Diabetes, High Cholesterol, Chronic Pain, or Other — and gives you a free-text box for your question.
Please understand what that means: the boxes you tick are health information about you, and you are choosing to send it through a website form. We ask for it so that Dr. Rottet can give you a useful answer rather than a generic one. You are never required to tick anything. You can leave every box blank and simply write "I'd like to talk."
Through the booking page. Appointments are scheduled on Practice Better, a third-party practice-management platform. What you enter there is collected by Practice Better under its own privacy terms and ours.
If you consent to text messages. The form includes a separate, optional checkbox for marketing text messages. Ticking it is never a condition of being contacted or of receiving care.
When you call or email. We keep what you send us so we can answer you.
03Information Collected Automatically
Like any website, our host records standard technical information when a page is requested: IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the referring page, and the date and time. This is used to keep the site running and secure, not to build a profile of you.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to see how many people visit, which pages they read, and how they found us. We use it to improve the site, not to identify you.
What it records is the page you are on, the page you came from, approximate location from your IP address, your browser and device, and a randomly generated identifier stored in a cookie. It also records some interactions automatically: how far down a page you scroll, clicks on links that lead off our site, and downloads of files such as our patient guide. It does not record what you type into forms — not the health concerns you tick, and not the free-text box.
Cookies. Google Analytics sets two cookies of its own, named _ga and _ga_ followed by a code. They hold that random identifier and the state of your visit, so a person who reads three pages is counted once rather than three times. They expire after about two years. We set no other cookies. Your browser may also store a small technical value used by WordPress to decide how to display emoji.
Third-party embeds — the map and the booking platform — may set their own cookies when they load, under their own policies.
We carry no advertising pixels, no remarketing tags and no social-media trackers. Nothing on this site follows you to other websites.
Turning analytics off. You can install Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, block cookies for this site in your browser settings, or use your browser's private mode. None of that affects your ability to read the site, contact us, or book.
If we add anything beyond what is described here, we will say so on this page and change the "Last updated" date before doing it.
04Who Else Handles Your Information
We use a small number of outside services to run the site. They only receive what they need to do their job, and they are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
- ActiveCampaign — delivers and stores contact-form submissions. Everything you type into that form, including any health concerns you tick and anything you write in the free-text box, is transmitted to and stored on ActiveCampaign's systems.
- Practice Better — the scheduling and practice-management platform behind the booking page.
- Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager — measure how the site is used, as described in Section 3. Google processes this on our behalf and we have not enabled any advertising or data-sharing features.
- Google Maps — the map embedded on our site is served by Google, which receives your IP address and may set its own cookies when the map loads.
- Google Fonts, Bunny Fonts, jsDelivr and Cloudflare — content delivery networks that serve fonts and scripts. They receive your IP address as a technical necessity of delivering those files.
- Our web host — stores the site and keeps server logs.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, where it is necessary to protect someone's safety, or in connection with a transfer of the practice.
05How We Use It
- To answer your question and, where appropriate, to arrange a consultation.
- To schedule, confirm and follow up on appointments.
- To send you practice updates or health information, only if you asked for them.
- To keep the site working, secure, and free of abuse.
- To meet our legal and professional obligations.
We do not use website information to make automated decisions about you, and we do not use it for advertising.
06We Do Not Sell Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not share it so that other companies can advertise to you. There is no exception to this that we are quietly relying on.
07Email and Text Messages
If you ask to hear from us, you can stop at any time:
- Email — use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any message, or reply and ask.
- Text messages — reply STOP to opt out, or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply and message frequency varies.
Opting out of marketing does not stop messages about an appointment you have actually booked.
08How Long We Keep It
We keep contact-form submissions for as long as needed to answer you and to maintain a record of the conversation, and then for as long as our professional and legal obligations require. Server logs are kept for a short period for security purposes. If you ask us to delete something and no law requires us to keep it, we will.
Patient records, once a care relationship exists, are retained under the separate rules that govern medical records in Pennsylvania — not under this policy.
09Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, and the site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS).
We are also going to be straight with you about the limits: no website, form, or email is perfectly secure. Ordinary email and web forms can be intercepted. That is why we ask you not to send anything highly sensitive through them.
If a breach of personal information occurs, we will notify affected individuals as required by Pennsylvania's Breach of Personal Information Notification Act, 73 P.S. § 2301 et seq., and by any applicable federal law.
10Your Choices
You may ask us to:
- tell you what information we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete information, where no law requires us to keep it;
- stop sending you marketing email or texts;
- stop analytics from measuring your visits (Section 3 explains how).
Write to us at the address in Section 13 or call (570) 366-2613. We may need to verify who you are before we act, which protects you as much as us.
Pennsylvania does not currently give residents a general consumer data-access right of the kind some other states have. We handle these requests because it is the right thing to do, not only where a statute compels it.
Do Not Track. Our site does not respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals, because it does not track you across other websites in the first place.
11Children
This website is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. A parent or legal guardian handles scheduling and intake for a minor patient. If you believe a child has sent us information through the website, contact us and we will delete it.
12Links and Changes
Other websites. We link to outside resources such as research articles and government health pages. Once you follow a link, you are on someone else's site under someone else's policy. We are not responsible for what they do.
Changes to this policy. We may update this page. The revised version takes effect when posted and the "Last updated" date above will change. If a change is significant — a new tracking tool, a new processor handling your information — we will make that plain rather than burying it.
